Dear colleagues, students, friends of Sumy State University!
I would like to inform you that from the 1st of April, the university will resume the educational process in the format of remote studying after the vacation of necessity.
Realizing the complexities of wartime, the university is working to create the most favorable educational environment that takes into account the needs and capabilities of all participants of the educational process. Currently, the order has been prepared on the peculiarities of the organization of training, the schedules of the educational process and the format of internships, final activities, etc. have been approved.
Sumy State University also continues active working in other major areas of its activities: accreditation processes are underway, including the international accreditation of the educational program "Medicine", scientific and grant project activities and active cooperation with foreign partners are going on, the resumption of training on the basis of sports buildings of SumDU is being planned.
I would like to express my gratitude to the entire staff of the university being very steady-going and ready to work for the benefit of Sumy State University, the city, and the country.

Anna Reshytko (a PhD student of the Department of Germanic Philology) successfully passed the competition and was selected as one of the best students for the BUP 8th «Interdisciplinary-Multicultural-International» internship, organized by the Center for PhD Students from the Baltic Region. The conference was held on November 24-28 in the town of Lodz, Poland. Young researchers from 12 European countries took part in it.
Anna represented her thesis and had an internship in the interdisciplinary scientific cooperation. The young scientist was consulted by leading European experts and got a diploma.
Viktoriia Chubur, a PhD student of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Technologies of Sumy State University, took part in a scientific internship at the Czech University of Life Sciences (Prague) in August 30th - September 6th 2021, within the framework of Czech project "Strengthening scientific capacities and cooperation of Ukrainian universities in AgriSciences" (https: //agrisci-ua. com/).
The main purpose of the visit was the implementation of tasks within the framework of joint research projects. Visits to laboratories, research institutes and working meetings were planned to discuss further steps for collaborative research and cooperation.
Sumy State University once again confirmed the high quality of PhD students training. On July 27th, at a meeting of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, two PhD programmes for the training of Doctor of Philosophy "Journalism" and "Medicine" were recognized as exemplary.
The best practices in the implementation of these academic programmes are the active international academic mobility of applicants and their participation in grant projects HORIZON-2020, ERASMUS+, Era-Net, DAAD. The National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education highlighted exemplary conditions for research for postgraduates; a powerful teaching staff involved; modern information and logistical support that allows conducting training and research at the world standards level, etc.

On April, 21 2021 Sumy State University hosted the event for PhD students on how to do research. The theme of this seminar was "Guidelines to Doctoral Thesis Preparation" and it tackled the following issues in the following sections:
Section 1. Theoretical background of the research idea:
- analysis of trends of scientific and Internet users’ interest to your research issue (Google Trends);
- bibliometric analysis in your research field (VOSviewer);
- optional parts of the seminar:
' current state of the research issue in your country / worldwide (analytical chapter);
' clarification of the theoretical framework of the research issue (literature review section).
Section 2. Bibliometric analysis in your research field:
- co-occurrence of your research issue with other concepts;
- geographical dissemination of your research idea;
- timeline dimension of your research idea etc.
Section 3. Identification of the theoretical framework of your research issue:
- systematization of approaches to identifying the essence of the research concept;
- systematization of objects, functions and principles of the research concept;
- systematization of approaches to assessment or measurement of the research issue (if applicable), etc.
On March 25th, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced the results of the state certification of higher education institutions in terms of their scientific (scientific and technical) activities.
In total, 135 Ukrainian universities that passed the respective attestation procedure were assessed in terms of the efficiency of scientific activity.
SumDU passed the certification in 5 areas and confirmed the high level of scientific activity, entering qualification group A in four areas: "Humanities and Arts", "Social Sciences", "Mathematics and Natural Sciences", "Technical Sciences" and group B - in the field of "Biology and Health".
The state certification of HEIs was carried out, in accordance with the Procedure approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 22.08.2018 № 652, in 7 scientific areas: "Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine", "Military Sciences and National Security", "Humanities and Arts", “Social Sciences”, "Biology and Health Care", "Mathematics and Natural Sciences", "Technical Sciences".
The scientific seminar of the Medical Institute of Sumy State University «Noble metals in nanomedicine» was held on March 10, 2021. It was supported by the Biomedical Research Center. The speaker of the seminar was Dr. Valerio Voliani, Ph.D. Taking into consideration the worldwide epidemic situation the seminar was held on-line.
Dr. Valerio Voliani is a researcher at Center for Nanotechnology Innovation, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. He has obtained his MSc in chemistry and PhD in molecular biophysics from Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy. His efforts are mainly devoted to the translation of non-persistent plasmonic nanomaterials to patients, in order to promote efficient treatments for neoplasms and infectious diseases. His main interests are related to photothermal conversion, drug delivery, photoacoustic/ultrasound imaging, and combined therapies. He is also actively engaged in scientific disseminations to students and the community.
Academic scholarship of the President of Ukraine for 2020-2021 academic year has been assigned to Serhii Minenko, a post graduate student of Sumy State university, by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, dated December 4, 2020 №1 517. As a result of competitive selection only 21 PhD students were chosen from all over Ukraine.
